Revelation -- 18

The Book of Revelation #18 The sixth seal is the longest and the most complex. It is comprised of a tryptic consisting of the cosmic decreation; a scene in which God de-creates the world, the sealing of the 144,000, and finally the multitude that could not be numbered. In this lecture, we focus on the first part, the de-creation of the world described in chapter 6 from verses 12 through 17. The series on symbolism in the Scripture, the end times in the New Covenant, and the prophets help us to understand the language used here and its literal meaning. By reading this text against its Old Testament background we deepen our understanding of God's purpose and his plan of salvation. Highlights Why are the stars falling and the sun becoming black as sackcloth? Why not black as night? Why do the kings of the earth and the great men hide in caves? What does it say about us today? What is the "wrath of the Lamb?" Can Jesus be wrathful? If so how?
